Winnipeg Airport is mainly termed as Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. It is a public airport which is reckoned as Canada's eighth busiest airport. The airport started its journey on 27th of May 1928 and named in the honor of the noted Manitoba aviator and pioneer bush pilot, Captain Fred J. Stevenson but in 1958 it was officially renamed as Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport at the request of Department of Transport. The airport is controlled, invested and maintained by Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. , which has been handling the charge since 1st of January 1997.
