What is Vital Statistics Halifax in the Process of?

The Vital Statistics is a database that keeps records of births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and divorces of individuals within jurisdiction of Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management abbreviated as (NSARM) is responsible for issuing and maintaining copies of certificates of Birth, death and marriages etc. The Vital Statistics agency works on the behalf of Government of Canada to maintain universal recording of the occurrence and characteristics of vital and civil status event in accordance with the legal requirements of the Canada. It was originated in the year 1869 and is also responsible for acknowledgement of paternity forms and corrections to vital records and to prepares data files for public health surveillance. The Genealogical information can be obtained from hospitals, funeral directors, midwives, physicians, tribal authorities, the Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) and many other resources. The British Columbia Government introduces a new “Birth Registration and the new Family Law Act” on 18 March, 2013 to provide secure and easy on-line birth registration services.
