Richmond Hill Public Library is also known with its abbreviation RHPL. It is an association which operates its four library branches namely Richmond Hill Central, Oak Ridges Moraine, Richmond Green and Richvale. All the libraries has a large collection of books, genealogy, phone books, local history, business directories, maps, government publications and periodicals. The association was created in the year 1852 with the name Mechanics Institute. It was established under the provincial An Act of Library Associations and Mechanics Institutes.
