What is New Edmonton Remand Centre in the Process of?

The Edmonton Remand Center is the advanced technological remand center in Canada that accommodates both male and female inmates. The remand center offers the programs that are related to self-management, independent living skills, addictions awareness and substance abuse. The correctional service programs for the inmates are related to casework, education, health care, placement and classification, psychiatry, recreation and spiritual issues. The remand center includes the facilities of outdoor exercise yard, a weight room and activity room in each living unit, and a gymnasium and library.

The Edmonton Remand Center also looks after some of the community agencies and has access to those societies including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, as well as the Elizabeth Fry and John Howard Societies.
