CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity) is the name of a global treaty, which was signed on 5 June, 1992 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the Earth Summit. There are 30 ratifications given in the treaty. The main objective of the convention is to conserve the ecosystem. The convention is aimed at biodiversity conservation, fair and limited use of the genetic resources. All the species, genetic resources and environmental systems are covered in the Convention on Biological Diversity. The European Union and 192 countries are participated in the convention.
