Hearst Corporation is a private mass media company based in the United States. Hearst
Corporation started its operations on March 4, 1887 by William Randolph Hearst. Corporate office of the company is situated in New York City of United States. It is one of the largest mass media companies in the country.
Hearst Corporation operates its business through six divisions: Hearst Television, Hearst Magazines, Hearst Ventures, Hearst Business Media, Hearst Entertainment & Syndication and Hearst Newspapers. Under Hearst Magazines division, the company publishes more than 300 magazines, among them few are Harper's Bazaar, Redbook, Food Network Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Woman's Day, Popular Mechanics, Elle Decor etc. On the other hand, it also publishes 15 daily newspapers and 36 weekly newspapers. Hearst Television Division operates around 29 television stations across the United States.
The corporation is overseen by the board of thirteen trustees including the founder's family members and outsiders. The history of the corporation dates back to 1887 when William Randolph Hearst, the founder of the Hearst Corporation was become the editor of San Francisco Examiner followed by the acquisition of the New York Journal in 1895. Later on Hearst International News Service was came into existence and was the part of the United Press. The journey of Hearst Magazines was started in 1903 with the publication of Motor magazine. Over the Next 10
years, the corporation owned other magazine such as Cosmopolitan
and Good Housekeeping. By 1930's, the corporation was one of the largest media group in the world.
