Food Stamp Missouri
Food Stamp Missouri is a social welfare program, operated by the state government. The program is managed by The Missouri Department of Social Service. It was renamed to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in October, 2008. Food stamps was started to promote good nutrition and healthy life of the citizens of the state.
Benefits of Food Stamp Missouri program are offered to low income families, pregnant ladies, senior citizens, children, citizen with disability and other needy persons. The serving of food in the states depends on USDA's Thrifty Food Plan. The service is adjusted yearly in accordance to the country’s Department of Labor's inquiry on the expanse of food.
Missouri government transfers the Food Stamp benefits through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system. However, the government initially provides these benefits through coupon system. It directly transfer benefits to the EBT accounts of the benefits recipients. The recipients can access these benefits through a plastic card, known as EBT card.
