I emailed request in Feb 2015 to cancel Doubleday Book Club membership. They replied that they would get back to me and never did. I received March offer, but am unable to decline because I CANNOT access my account. The only thing that shows up is their 'credits' promotion of which I want no part. I tried calling customer service only to be put on hold until I GAVE UP IN FRUSTRATION. Doubleday seems to be holding members hostage when they try to cancel membership.

I placed an order on 2/3/2015, my order didn't ship according to their records until 2/9/2015. I sent them a email checking the order status only to find out my order was shipped to the incorrect address. They offered to resend the order,, but when I requested express shipping due to their error, the told me I had to pay for it. I spoke to the supervisor and she too said that if I wanted to express shipping that I would need to pay for it. They made the error, but yet I have to pay for it? Bad Customer service, I cancelled my account, and disputed charges with my bank. This was unacceptable and not a good business practice.

My complaint is that I ask for this account to be closed a month ago and you still send monthly features and say I will be charged for them, well if you send any more books the cost will be on you. I do not want any more books sent to me and this will be my last time that I ask you to cancel this account. I want this account closed please. If you mail me any more automatic shipments I will not send them back and I will not accept any charges for them either. I have sent two or three shipments back already and you sent me an email that I would not have any more monthly features so get er done. Yvonia Ward.

I have not had an account with you for a long time and I have emailed you several times over the past year when I started getting books I was not ordering. I have returned all books and keep receiving new books constantly and bills please discontinue sending me books and billing statements as I have not kept any of the books. If you continue to send me books and statements I will be forced to take further action. I cannot call you as you are closed when I get home from work please have a supervisor call me asap as I have emailed 3 different times and no one bothers to call me back. This is my third e-mail still waiting on a reply why my bank account was charged Rs 44. 46 on 11-11-14 my account history shows this as a balance and then on 11-13-14 a payment posted. I have not ordered any books in years I do not understand this. Waiting for an answer. I would like to drop my membership. I have been a member for many years, but the last several months have been horrible. Last spring we changed Internet carriers and I called and told them of my new e-mail address and set up all new information. Now when I am asked to reply to my monthly selections my old address comes up and no matter what I try to do at log in site it will not let me in. I have had a bad past year-lost both my parents and had major surgery. I just do not have time or energy to play these games. Not sure what or where the problem is, but I just want out. Do not want books being delivered that I do NOT want and on the same page would like to order books I DO want. So please just cancel my membership. Thank you. Theresa Henry.

My bank statement is showing a pending debit for $46.86. I thought maybe I had missed an email about a featured selection. It turns out the last email I received from DoubleDay was back in July of this year. I have no outstanding orders/featured selections that are or have been shipped, according to my account, since 2013. I tried to delete my debit card number to avoid any future issues, but I receive a message saying it "is not allowed. ".

on 9/18 my visa was charged $43.46 at 1:23 pm. by doubleday book club i hadn't ordered any books. i called on 9/18 and 9/19 and spoke to a supervisor, explained my problem, and i told her i wanted my visa credited she told me she would look into this and call me back. i waited all day and was not called back the only book i've ordered was on 9/4, account #04766021. i want my money back plus interest. i expect an answer. this is no way to treat a customer. email address - tel: 508-548-2520

I also was attempting to contact Doubleday and finally sent an email to the customer care email address.
After some weeks not hearing i got a reply today via email stating that Doubleday is no longer selling books, cds or dvds due to the expense involved and downturn from on line shopping. So it looks like they no longer exist.
