counties including Hancock and Washington. Moreover, it also serves some parts of Penobscot county. Addition to Bangor Hydro
District, Emera Maine also serves the Maine Public District. The Company covers Aroostook and some parts of Penobscot County.
Emera Maine is an electricity distribution company an operating subsidiary of Emera Incorporation, which is one of the leading Energy
companies in Nova Scotia. Initially, the company operates in two divisions; these are Bangor Hydro and Maine Public Service. Both these divisions were combined under the name of Emera Maine on 1st of January 2014. Main objective of Emera Maine is to provide safe and reliable electricity to the residents of north-east Maine. The Company maintains distribution infrastructure in the area, which includes wires and meters.
Emera Maine Operations
Emera Maine does not generate electricity; it is only responsible for transmission. Moreover, it does not directly sell electricity to the retail customers. The Company serves 8,900 square miles of area and serves 154,000 customers. Emera Maine operates 1,265 miles long transmission line and 6,068 miles long distribution line. The Company has 410 employees. It generates approximately 39% of Revenue
from commercial customers.
