The Employees' Provident Fund Organization of India is a national social security organization which offers an entire range of fund schemes, insurance schemes and pension schemes to its members. It is a legal agency of Indian Government under the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
The organization provides all its benefits to those workers who engaged in the organized sectors in India. Employees' Provident Fund Organization is generally known as EPFO. The EPFO was originally introduced on November 15, 1951 by Provident Funds Ordinance. It was changed by the Employees’ Provident Funds Act, 1952. Today, EPFO is identified as the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 which is spread throughout the India except (Jammu and Kashmir).
